Without many opportunities at Manchester United, striker Antony is expected to be loaned out in the next January transfer window. The 24-year-old former São Paulo player is no longer part of coach Erik ten Hag’s plans and the Old Trafford club’s board wants to negotiate the striker.
Antony was bought in August 2022 from Ajax for around 100 million euros (more than R$500 million at the current exchange rate). Manchester United did not see, at first, the chance of recovering this amount in a sale, hence the option to loan him.

It sounds like Manchester United is preparing to make a significant move by loaning out Antony in the upcoming January transfer window. Antony’s transfer from Ajax was one of the club’s biggest investments, costing around €100 million, but it seems he hasn’t fully met expectations at Old Trafford. With limited opportunities under Erik ten Hag, and not being a part of the coach’s plans moving forward, loaning him out could be a way to allow him more playing time elsewhere while the club reevaluates his future.
This decision to loan him rather than sell, at least initially, could be influenced by the desire to preserve his value since Manchester United might not be able to recoup the full transfer fee from a sale at the moment. A loan could offer Antony a chance to regain form and increase his market value. It’ll be interesting to see which clubs might be interested in taking him on loan, given his talent and previous success at Ajax.

Antony’s limited involvement this season, with just two substitute appearances in the Premier League, underscores his reduced role at Manchester United. Given the reports from Football Insider and the BBC, it’s intriguing to see Ajax among the clubs interested in bringing him back on loan. A return to Ajax could provide him with familiar surroundings and the opportunity to reignite his form, especially given his past success at the club before his high-profile move to Manchester United.
Newcastle and Crystal Palace also seem like viable options, especially as both clubs could use his flair and creativity. Newcastle, with their ambitious plans, might offer him a platform in a team competing on multiple fronts, including European competition, while Crystal Palace could give him more guaranteed playing time in the Premier League.
It’ll be interesting to see which of these clubs secures the loan and whether Antony can use this opportunity to get his career back on track.
