Arne Slot: We will find him a new contract – Alexander-Arnold is not moving to Madrid this season
The Liverpool legend and now TV commentator explained on social media ‘X’ that he believes the full-back and his agency are “covering their backs”
Trent Alexander-Arnold has become Real Madrid‘s next big target. The Liverpool full-back, whose contract expires on June 30, can negotiate with any team starting today to arrive on a free transfer next season. Los Blancos have already made moves, as MARCA revealed yesterday.
Arnold and his team are trying to cover their backs for when he leaves for free
The team managed by Carlo Ancelotti wants to incorporate him next summer, but there has already been an initial approach towards Anfield to assess a possible arrival now, in January. In fact, according to The Times, Liverpool have rejected that first attempt to negotiate the transfer of the English international, something that the ‘red’ legend, Jamie Carragher, has spoken about.
“The most important thing for Liverpool in 2025 is to win the Premier League. Nobody’s contract or future should stand in the way of that! I love Trent as a player, but his team have told Real Madrid to make an offer knowing that Liverpool would reject it. It’s to try to cover their backs when he leaves for free,” he explained on ‘X’.
A departure that seems increasingly clear after having rejected the latest offers of renewal from the current Premier League leader and that would strengthen the current European champion in a ‘touched’ position after the serious injury of Dani Carvajal.
