Reports indicate that Arsenal are eyeing a move for key Serie A captain Lorenzo Pellegrini, who could provide vital cover for one of the Gunners’ current stars.

The AS Roma captain, 28, has long been linked with a move to Arsenal, and these rumors have resurfaced. With just 18 months left on his contract at Roma, Pellegrini has yet to sign an extension, despite his status as the club’s captain.

While many Arsenal fans are calling for new signings in positions such as striker or right-winger, the club could soon face a need for midfield reinforcements. Both Thomas Partey and Jorginho have contracts expiring this summer, and with transfer interest from abroad, the Gunners could lose one or both players in the near future.

Lorenzo Pellegrini has had a challenging start to the 2024/25 season, with just two goals and two assists in 20 appearances across all competitions. However, his stunning goal in the Rome derby against Lazio on Wednesday served as a timely reminder of the quality he can offer.

According to Roma Press, “The Gunners are famously appreciative of technical players, and Pellegrini could be tempted to try his luck in the Premier League,” which could significantly enhance Arsenal’s chances of securing a deal for the midfielder.

One football fan, seemingly baffled by the ongoing rumors, took to X (formerly Twitter) to comment: “This is getting insane. Pellegrini must have a hell of an agent,” in reaction to Arsenal’s reported interest in the attacking midfielder.
