Champions League: Madrid signs the streak of peace
Three consecutive wins in three more 'finals' to regain peace of mind after the Super Cup

Winning was the only way for Real Madrid to put an end to the painful defeat in the Spanish Super Cup. After the final in Jeddah, Ancelotti‘s men had three more ‘finals’ in a week and in three different competitions. And they have won all three. They won the cup tie against Celta, with a scare but with a thrashing, they won the league match against Las Palmas in style with the lead at stake and they have done the same with the decisive Champions League match against Salzburg to secure a place in the last 16. Three victories to seal the streak of peace A triple of triumphs to leave behind the disappointment of the last Clásico and dispel any spectre that the blow could lead to a fatal crisis at this stage of the season, where each match is a ‘final’ in the three titles at stake: League, Champions, and Cup.
Real Madrid have dealt with this blow much better than they did in the first Clásico (0-4 at the Bernabéu). The first thrashing by Barça did shake them up: they lost the next two Champions League matches against Milan and Liverpool and also fell in the league against Athletic in the visit to San Mamés. A difficult month and a half between the end of October and the beginning of December in which the balance of results was four defeats in seven games. A negative streak that caused concern for the club and the coaching staff. The team found it difficult to get out of the tunnel, although the crisis came at a time of the season that gave them room to recover. In fact, at the moment Madrid is the leader, is in the quarter-finals of the Copa del Rey and will be in the last 32 of the Champions League… unless a miracle happens that puts them directly into the last 16.
