The FA Cup will see the eternal Ashley Young face off with his son
Everton will face Peterborough at Goodison Park in the third round
Born in Stevenage back in 1985, there is no outfield player older than Ashley Young himself (39 years, four months, and 22 days). Only Fabianski is older than him, and behind him, he keeps legends like James Milner and Jamie Vardy at bay. He can boast, in fact, of being one of the few players still active in England to have won the last Premier League with Manchester United (2012-13).
In June 2006, just a few months before leaving Watford to sign for Aston Villa, he saw the birth of his first-born son, Tyler Young. Little by little, he has been building his career and, at 18, he is playing for the reserve team of the legendary Peterborough after passing through the academy of another classic English football club, Queens Park Rangers. Father and son, moreover, have a close relationship that they show on social networks.
Tyler’s first team debut came last Saturday in the second round of the FA Cup against Notts Country, where ‘The Posh’ won by the minimum in a completely crazy match. Ashley’s son came on with 27′ to go to make his debut.
Now, just a few days later, the FA Cup has decided that Peterborough will face Everton in the next round, where his father has been since last season and is a regular in Sean Dyche’s plans. We will see if father and son can face each other for the first time on the pitch on January 9 at Goodison Park.
